Great-winged Petrels [Pterodroma]
Description
Pterodroma includes a wide variety of species known as the great-winged petrels or gadfly petrels. These birds are medium to large-sized with long wings and pointed tails, adapted for dynamic soaring and gliding over the ocean. Their plumage varies among species but generally includes shades of grey, brown, and white. Great-winged Petrels are highly pelagic, breeding on remote islands and feeding on squid, fish, and crustaceans.
