Flagellant barbeled dragonfish [Flagellostomias longispinus]

Description

This species is also a deep-sea creature, residing in mesopelagic to bathypelagic zones. The Flagellant barbeled dragonfish exhibits sexual dimorphism, with females being larger in size and possessing a long, slender body with elongated pelvic fins, while males lack these features. This species is bioluminescent, having light-emitting organs (photophores) along its body and on its barbel (a whisker-like sensory organ near the mouth). The diet of this species primarily consists of small fish and squid.
