False catshark [Pseudotriakis microdon]
Description
The false catshark, also known as the sofa shark, is a species of ground shark and the only extant member of the family Pseudotriakidae. It is found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans at depths between 200 and 1,500 meters. This species is characterized by a long, soft body and a broad, short snout. It has very small teeth and unusually large pelvic fins. Its diet consists of small bony fishes and invertebrates.
