Eyespot flounder [Taeniopsetta ocellata]
Description
The Eyespot flounder, scientifically known as Taeniopsetta ocellata, is a species of flatfish in the family Bothidae which is native to the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. This species inhabits sandy or muddy substrates of the continental shelves at depths from 5 to 150 m. It is a demersal saltwater fish that grows up to 30 cm in length. It is characterised by its oval body shape and the presence of a distinctive eyespot near the tail.
