European sprat [Sprattus sprattus]
Description
The European sprat, also known as bristling, brisling or skipper, is a small, herring-like marine fish. They are silver-coloured and have a blue or greenish back. European sprats are usually 10 to 12 cm in length and live in large schools near the surface primarily in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, but also in the Black Sea.
