Description

Also known as Disco Clam or Electric Flame Scallop, the Electric File Clam is notable for its display of light along the edges of its mantle, which is caused by reflective tissue that scatters ambient light. This species is found in caves and crevices in coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific region. Electric File Clams are filter feeders and their diet mainly consists of plankton.
