Common Pincushion Skate [Raja microocellata]

Description

The Common Pincushion Skate is a marine fish species in the family Rajidae. It is found in the northeast Atlantic, from the British Isles to Morocco, and in the Mediterranean Sea, usually on sandy or muddy bottoms from the coast to depths of about 200 m. It is a benthic species and feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. The Common Pincushion Skate can be identified by its diamond-shaped body, long snout, and small white spots on its back.
