Cape Petrel [Daption capense]
Description
The Cape Petrel, also known as the Cape Pigeon, Pintado Petrel, or Cape Fulmar, is a common seabird of the Southern Ocean from the family Procellariidae. It is the only member of the genus Daption, and is allied to the Fulmarine petrels, and the Giant petrels. They are extremely graceful fliers. They feed mainly on krill and other crustaceans, but also on small fish and squid. They have distinctive black and white plumage. The species is monotypic and has no subspecies.
