Brown Sicklebill [Epimachus meyeri]
Description
The Brown Sicklebill, also known as Meyer's Sicklebill, is a bird-of-paradise endemic to the mountain forests of New Guinea. Like its relative, the Black Sicklebill, this species also displays marked sexual dimorphism. Males are larger with a long, curved bill and iridescent black and green plumage, while females are smaller, with a shorter bill and brown plumage. The species is known for its elaborate courtship displays, which include a unique 'dance' performed by the male.
