Description
The Brazilian Skate, or Rioraja brachyura, is a species of ray in the Rajidae family. This species is endemic to the southwestern Atlantic Ocean, primarily off the coasts of Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina. It is a demersal species that can be found on the continental shelf and upper slope, preferring sandy or muddy substrates. It is oviparous, with females laying eggs that have horned corners. The Brazilian Skate is notable for its short tail and disc-like body shape.
