Description
The Blackspot Flathead, also known as Niigata-kochi in Japan, is a species of fish in the family Platycephalidae. It can be found in the western Pacific Ocean, specifically in the coastal waters of Japan and Taiwan. It has a distinctive dark spot on both sides of its body, hence the name 'Blackspot'. This species is commonly found in sandy or muddy substrates in coastal waters and estuaries. It is a benthic species, meaning it lives and feeds on or near the bottom of the sea. The Blackspot Flathead can reach a maximum length of about 20 cm.
