Black Sea sprat [Sprattus sprattus phalericus]
Description
The Black Sea sprat is a subspecies of the European sprat and is native to the Black Sea. It is a small, herring-like fish, usually measuring 10 to 12 cm in length. It is distinguished by its silver color and blue or greenish back. Black Sea sprats form large schools near the surface of the water.
