Bigeyed Sixgill Shark [Hexanchus vitulus]
Description
The Bigeyed Sixgill Shark is a species of shark in the Hexanchidae family. It is distinguishable from its close relative, the Bluntnose Sixgill Shark, by its large green eyes and smaller maximum size, typically not exceeding 1.7 meters in length. It inhabits deeper waters, typically from 90 to 610 meters, but has been found as deep as 2,500 meters. It is a relatively unknown species due to its deepwater habitat.
