Avocet Snipe Eel [Avocettina infans]
Description
These are deep-sea eels found in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. They are known for their long, slender bodies and avocet-like beaks, hence the name. Females are larger than males, growing up to 1.5 meters long while males only grow up to 0.5 meters. They dwell at depths from 500 to 3000 meters and feed on bottom-dwelling invertebrates.
