Australian Longfin Herrings [Herklotsichthys quadrimaculatus]
Description
Species of herring that is found in the western Pacific Ocean, from Indonesia and northern Australia to Samoa and Tonga. They prefer shallow coastal waters and estuaries. They are silver, with a pale blue-green back, and have black spots on the sides. They are schooling fish and feed on small crustaceans and fish larvae.
