Atlantic Thread Herring [Opisthonema oglinum]
Description
This species is found in the western Atlantic from Massachusetts, USA and Bermuda to Argentina. It lives in coastal waters, estuaries, lagoons, and the mouths of rivers, typically forming large schools. The Atlantic Thread Herring is a small fish with a slender body, reaching a maximum length of about 38 cm. It feeds on plankton and small fishes.
