Araucanian Herring [Strangomera bentincki]
Description
The Araucanian Herring is found off the coast of Chile and Argentina. It is a small species, rarely exceeding 20 cm in length. Unlike other herring species, it is a demersal species, preferring to live near the bottom. It has a more elongated body and a smaller mouth than other herring species.
