Antarctic Chalk Sponge [Leucetta antarctica]

Description
Leucetta antarctica, known as the Antarctic Chalk Sponge, is found in the Southern Ocean surrounding Antarctica. This species is adapted to the extreme cold and constant darkness of its habitat. It has a rounded shape with a rough, chalky surface, and ranges in color from white to pale yellow. Antarctic Chalk Sponges are typically found attached to hard substrates in deep water.
