American Round Stingray [Urobatis halleri]
Description
The American Round Stingray, also known as Haller's Round Ray, is a species of ray, family Urotrygonidae, found in the coastal waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean. It is a bottom-dwelling species that typically inhabits sandy or muddy environments, often burying itself in sediment. Its diet consists mainly of small invertebrates. The species is recognized by its nearly circular pectoral fin disc, short tail and a stinger near the base of the tail.
