Peculiar parrotfish [Cetoscarus ocellatus]
Description
The Peculiar parrotfish is a large species that can reach a length of 40 cm (16 in). It is found in the tropical waters of the Indian Ocean, primarily around coral reefs. Its coloration varies with age and sex. Juveniles are white with an orange band. As they mature, individuals become either uniformly green (males) or blue/purple with yellowish underparts (females). This species is known for its 'beak' used to scrape algae and small organisms from rocks.
