Flathead flounder [Hippoglossoides elassodon]
Description
Flathead flounders are typically found in the North Pacific, from the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea to northern British Columbia. They prefer muddy or sandy bottoms at depths ranging from 18 to 400 meters. They can reach up to 40 cm in length and are characterized by their small mouth and large, arrow-shaped pectoral fins.
