Prickly flatfish [Chascanopsetta prorigera]
Description
The Prickly flatfish, or Chascanopsetta prorigera, is a species of large-tooth flounder found in the Atlantic Ocean. They inhabit depths ranging from 180 to 1,400 meters. The body of this species is covered with small, prickly scales, hence the common name. They grow up to 23 cm in length and have a diet that includes a variety of benthic invertebrates. Like other species in the genus Chascanopsetta, they exhibit a characteristic left-eyed flounder body structure.
