Description

The Longnose Whiptail Catfish, scientifically known as Labichthys yanoi, is a species of eeltail catfishes that resides in the Pacific Ocean. It can be found in the deep-sea areas from Japan to the East China Sea. It is a deep-sea dweller, living at depths of 140 to 360 meters. The Longnose Whiptail Catfish is distinguished by its long, slender body and an elongated snout. It is a nocturnal species, actively hunting small invertebrates at night.
