Common Thaumaleus [Thaumaleus chiltoni]

Description
This species of net-winged midge is endemic to New Zealand. It is found in the freshwater bodies, especially in the rivers of South Island. The larval stage of Thaumaleus chiltoni lives in the water, while the adult flies are terrestrial. The larvae are noted for their unique net-like wings, which they use to capture small particles of food from the water.
