Description

The Antarctic Deep-Sea Roly Poly, or Antarctic toothfish, is a species native to the Southern Ocean. It can be found at depths of up to 2,200 meters. This fish is large and elongated, growing up to 2 meters in length and weighing as much as 200 kilograms. It is a slow-growing species that feeds on squid and other fish. It is known for its antifreeze proteins, which prevent its blood from freezing in the cold Antarctic waters.
