Japanese tiger prawn [Marsupenaeus japonicus]

Description
A large prawn species that can reach up to 230mm in length. They are distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific region, from Japan to Australia. They are predominantly found in muddy and sandy bottoms of coastal waters and estuaries. They are nocturnal and primarily feed on small invertebrates and detritus. They are distinguished by their bold transverse bands and long, slender rostrum.
