Brown Mussel [Perna perna]

Description
Brown Mussels are found in the warm temperate and tropical regions of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. They prefer rocky substrates and can be found in the intertidal and subtidal zones. They are filter feeders, consuming plankton and organic particles suspended in the water. They are named for the dark brown coloration of their shells, though they can sometimes appear greenish. Their size can reach up to 100 mm in length.
