Asian Green Mussel [Perna viridis]

Description
The Asian Green Mussel is a bivalve, belonging to the family Mytilidae. It is native to the Asia-Pacific region but has been introduced to various other parts of the world. They live in coastal areas, attaching themselves to rocks, mangrove roots, or hard substrates in the intertidal zones. They filter feed on phytoplankton and suspended organic particles. They are characterized by their bright green shells, which can reach up to 165 mm in size.
