American Augers [Terebra dislocata]

Description
This species is native to the Western Atlantic coast from North Carolina to Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It can be found in the intertidal zone and up to depths of 12 meters. It has a slender, elongated shell with a sharp point and distinct ridges. It is primarily nocturnal, burrowing in the sand during the day and emerging at night to feed on small invertebrates.
