Venus Clam [Venus verrucosa]

Description
The Venus Clam, or Venus verrucosa, is a species of bivalve in the family Veneridae. It is found in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. This species is characterized by its thick, rounded shell that is often white or cream in colour, and can have brown or purple spots. The Venus Clam is a filter feeder, mainly consuming plankton. It can be found in sandy or muddy bottoms of the sea, typically at depths of 5 to 50 metres.
