Tutufa [Tutufa]
Description
Tutufa is a genus of large sea snails, known for their unique and highly ornamented shells, which are also part of the Bursidae family. These snails have shells that are elongated with a high spire, decorated with prominent axial ribs, nodules, or spines, giving them a distinctive appearance reminiscent of certain cacti or other spiny organisms. The aperture is relatively small compared to the overall size of the shell. Tutufa species are found primarily in warm, shallow waters where they feed on a diet of marine organisms settled on or buried within the sea floor.
