Tube Anemones [Anthopleura]
Description
Anthopleura is a genus of sea anemones often referred to as tube anemones due to their preference for living inside protective tubes made from secreted mucus and debris. These anemones are characterized by a wide, flat base and a column topped with an array of tentacles. They are commonly found in intertidal zones and are known for their ability to reproduce both sexually and asexually. Anthopleura species are important contributors to the biodiversity of rocky shore ecosystems.
