Tub gurnards [Trigloporus]
Description
Trigloporus, or tub gurnards, are a lesser-known genus within the searobin family. These fish are distinguished by their tubular nostrils and less flamboyant pectoral fins. They inhabit the Mediterranean Sea and the eastern Atlantic Ocean, usually found on soft seabeds where they prey on invertebrates. Their ability to produce sounds and their use of the pectoral 'legs' for mobility are similar to other members of the Triglidae family.
