Isurus is a genus of mackerel sharks, encompassing species like the shortfin mako, Isurus oxyrinchus, and the longfin mako, Isurus paucus. These sharks are known for their speed and agility in water, being among the fastest swimming sharks. They possess a torpedo-shaped body, a pointed snout, and long, slender teeth. They are capable of leaping out of the water, and their diet mainly consists of teleost fish and cephalopods.
