Saddle Oysters [Anomia]

Description
Anomia is a genus of marine bivalve molluscs in the family Anomiidae, commonly known as saddle oysters. These bivalves are characterized by their thin and irregularly shaped shells, with one valve being flat and the other convex, resembling a saddle, hence their common name. The lower valve of these creatures often has a small hole through which they secrete a byssus, allowing them to attach to rocks, corals, and other substrates in shallow to deep marine environments. The shell surface can be smooth or sculptured, and varies widely in color and pattern, often blending with their surroundings for camouflage.
