Royal Albatross [Diomedea]
Description
This genus includes some of the largest albatross species, notably the royal albatrosses. These birds are distinguished by their large size, predominantly white plumage with black wingtips, and their ability to glide on ocean winds for hours without flapping their wings. They breed on sub-Antarctic islands and spend much of their life at sea, coming to land only to breed.
