Round Stingrays [Bathytoshia]

Description

Bathytoshia is a genus of stingrays notable for their rounded body shape, which distinguishes them from the more diamond-shaped members of the Dasyatidae family. These stingrays are benthic, meaning they spend much of their time on or near the sea floor, across a variety of depths from shallow waters to deeper offshore environments. Round stingrays feed on a diet of invertebrates and small fish, using their electroreceptors to locate prey in the sandy or muddy substrates they inhabit.
