Description

Phycis is a genus within the Phycidae family, commonly known as the Phycid hakes. Members of this genus are characterized by their elongated bodies, small heads, and the presence of two dorsal fins. These fishes are found in the Atlantic Ocean, including the Mediterranean and Black Seas, inhabiting muddy or sandy bottoms where they feed on small invertebrates and fish.
