Northern Stargazers [Uranoscopus]
Description
Uranoscopus, or Northern Stargazers, are a genus of marine fish known for their distinct appearance and hunting method. With eyes and mouth positioned on top of their heads, they bury in the seabed, ambushing prey that swims too close. They possess a venomous spine on their operculum, used for defense. These fish inhabit temperate and tropical seas, often found on sandy or muddy bottoms.
