Cynoglossus [Cynoglossus]

Description

Cynoglossus is the largest genus within the family Cynoglossidae, known for their distinctively elongated, tongue-shaped bodies. These fish are primarily found in tropical and subtropical seas, inhabiting sandy or muddy bottoms where they feed on small invertebrates. Their asymmetrical bodies, with both eyes located on one side, are adapted for life on the seafloor. Cynoglossus species are important to local fisheries in many parts of the world.
