Cup-and-Saucer Limpets [Crucibulum]
Description
Crucibulum is a genus of sea snails, also belonging to the family Calyptraeidae, known as the cup-and-saucer limpets. These gastropods have a unique shell shape that resembles a cup with an underlying saucer. They are found in a variety of marine environments, from rocky shores to mudflats, and like many calyptraeids, they are filter feeders. The structure of their shell aids in their filter-feeding behavior, allowing them to capture plankton more efficiently.
