Crown Jellyfish [Cephea]
Description
Cephea is a genus within the Catostylidae family, comprised of species commonly referred to as crown jellyfish. These jellyfish are easily identifiable by the crown-like structure on top of their bell, from which numerous colorful filaments extend. Crown jellyfish are found in various oceans, often in open waters. They feed on small fish and plankton, captured using their trailing tentacles. While beautiful, the sting of a crown jellyfish can be painful, but it is not considered significantly hazardous to humans.
