Bulla [Bulla]

Description

Bulla is the type genus of the family Bullidae, commonly known as the bubble shells. Members of this genus are characterized by their smooth, oval shells which are often thin and fragile. These marine gastropods are found in sandy or muddy substrates in shallow waters, where they feed on microalgae and detritus. The shell is usually covered by the mantle of the animal, which can be retracted into the shell. The body of the animal is typically large compared to the shell, with a distinct head and a foot used for burrowing and movement.
