Description
Bufonaria is a genus within the Bursidae family, consisting of species known collectively as toad shells. These marine gastropods have robust, heavy shells with a moderately high spire and a large, rounded body whorl. The surface of the shells is often smooth but can be adorned with ridges or bumps. The shells are typically cream-colored with brown or orange markings. Bufonaria species occupy a variety of marine environments, including sandy, rocky, and coral reef habitats, where they prey on small invertebrates.
