Ancient Murrelet [Synthliboramphus]

Description

Synthliboramphus is a genus of seabirds known as murrelets, with the Ancient Murrelet as one of its representatives. These small, nocturnal seabirds are found in the North Pacific. They are unique among auks for laying their eggs in forested areas or on grassy slopes rather than cliffs. Ancient Murrelets are known for their direct flight to the sea shortly after hatching.
