Rough Sharks [Oxynotidae]
Description
Rough Sharks, or Oxynotidae, are a small family distinguished by their unique body shape, which is almost triangular in cross-section, and rough, prickly skin. They have a distinctive ridge along the back, leading to small, rudder-like dorsal fins. Rough sharks inhabit deep waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. They are benthic feeders, preying on invertebrates and small fish.
