Rhodaliidae [Rhodaliidae]
Description
The Rhodaliidae family includes siphonophores that are unique in their solitary float, which is larger and more developed than those of other siphonophores. These organisms are less commonly encountered and inhabit mid to deep water levels. Their feeding mechanisms and life history traits are not as well understood as those of more familiar siphonophores, but like others, they capture prey using tentacles lined with cnidocytes (stinging cells).
