Description
Lysiosquillidae, or spearer mantis shrimps, include some of the largest species within the order Stomatopoda. These mantis shrimps are characterized by their elongated bodies and spearing raptorial appendages, designed to catch soft-bodied prey such as fish and cephalopods. They are commonly found in tropical and subtropical waters, often within burrows on sandy or muddy bottoms.
