Giant Carpet Anemones [Stichodactylidae]
Description
Stichodactylidae, known as giant carpet anemones, are distinguished by their large, flat, disc-like bodies that can span over a meter in diameter. They are often brightly colored and have short, stubby tentacles around their periphery. These anemones are symbiotic with clownfish, which find refuge among their tentacles. They are typically found in tropical and subtropical regions, anchored to sandy or rubble substrates.
