Wood Sandpiper [Tringa glareola]
Description
The Wood Sandpiper is a medium-sized wading bird, measuring 19-22 cm in length. It has a brown back and wings, a white belly, and white lines running up its back to its wings. It's found across Europe and Asia during breeding season, and migrates to Africa, southern Asia, and Australia in winter. It prefers freshwater habitats near woods and feeds on insects, spiders, mollusks, and sometimes small fish and amphibians.
